Donald, I don't really see a way to do that with the plugin I mentioned, and I couldn't find anything that would do that free after a quick search. Your best bet is probably to buy that, $98 is really cheap, if I was to build out such functionality for a client, this could easily run up a 3-4 thousand dollar bill, of course, it would be built to their exact standards rather than a general audience's hopes/expectations.

Good tutorial - thanks for sharing.

Question -

can anyone please show/tell me how to get the same security features as this Amazon S3 / WP plugin http://bucketfly.com for $98 ?

It looks good, but i can't afford it right now and need those features to protect exclusive content on a membership site

...or does that require separate scripts to handle additional functions for creating dynamic links to prevent hot-linking or sharing?

Thanks for any help

I'm not the best when it comes to command line bash commands but I get this error when using the find command you provided above:

-bash: syntax error near unexpected token `('

Any ideas?

It depends if WPMU supports plugins the same. If it does it *should* work.

Great tutorial! :)

Do you think it would work in the same way with WPMU?

Cheers,

By that, do you mean that using amazon S3 will speed up other things? Well, it depends.

If you have Nginx or a professional setup, you probably won't notice a difference yourself, only the users and your bandwidth will. If apache is accessing the file system each time and you are on a shared or cheap VPS hosting account, you will most definitely push more power. Weather you will notice that is another question.

Regardless, I use CloudFront with S3 for the sole purpose of the user experience. I can say that except during traffic bursts (dig first few pages), I don't notice a difference.

Thanks for you response Matt.

One more question. Do you think that all the rewriting rules can push more CPU power from the server?

thank you again.

Hmm, it would be the same embedding as normal. If you're using wordpress, use the plugin I mentioned earlier, http://tantannoodles.com/toolkit/wordpress-s3/

Then you can just select the video and it will take care of embedding it. Otherwise, try:
<embed src="URL-IN-BUCKET"
autostart="TRUE/FALSE" />

Regards, Matt
